Berkeley Hunt Team Chase

The Berkeley Hunt Team Chase event was staged at the end of a farm track hidden behind Stone, south of Berkeley, Glos. A hidden gem overlooked by a fake castle on a commanding hill and isolated from the outside world. I think the event is only held annually. Not sure if the course is available to hire, suggest you inquire through the Berkeley Hunt or Berkeley Estate office.

Comments and Impression

A horrendous weather day, several layers got soaked and boy was it cold! The elevated vantage point allows virtually the whole course to be viewed from the parking area . The event was well organised with the usual facilities, although the single food van caused a massive cue over the lunch break. The fence judges were extremely friendly with open access all jumps.

The open class was scary to watch as each team went for the fastest time over the whole course. Huge jumps with several riders unseated and lose horses everywhere. My hat goes off to them...v brave!

Unfortunately the extremely bad weather meant low light. I was at the limit of my poor little Canon 350D. Saving hard for a new 50D, low light will be a thing of the past.

Special Interest :  Two Teams from Billow Farm Livery

Supporting the teams from Billow Farm Livery, especially the two Amanda's riding Bear and Curly again. Awesome performance as they came second.
