The Gatcombe Park Horse Trials

Set in the heart of Gloucestershire Gatcombe Horse Trials welcomes international riders three times a year in March, August & September. Surely this place needs no introduction. My home patch as I cycle through the park on the way to and from work. Home to the Royal's with glourious views across the Avening valley past Nailsworth. The sweeping course is awesome to watch and photograph providing scenic backdrops.

Comments and Impression

Not quite Badminton, but with easy access and parking it suites me just fine. A rolling course moving in and out of woodland with close access to the jumps. A good place to see William F-P and Zara on novice rides.   Well maintained and drained so no soggy feet. The August date is always roasting and tends to be the busiest event of the Gatcome Calendar.

Special Interest :  Sam Smith + Mixing with the Pro's

Sam Smith is our equine physio and looks after the whole of Billow Livery. All full time job. He was riding Orbital and had a mixed day finishing 21st in Intermediate Section H.

This event gives you opportunity to mix it with the professional photographers, especially in March or September. Please let me know what you think.
